As a frequent problem associated with the food production, shoe cleaning when leaving workshop area must be taken into account. Shoes may be contaminated by ferromagnetic impurities (metal shavings, sawdust, metal dust) and there is a risk of a clean operation contamination by this waste.

By that reason we developed a magnetic mat serving to catching of ferromagnetic impurities from shoe soles. The mat is equipped with very strong neodymium NdFeB magnets. The magnets are covered with rubber mats.

Cleaning zone location

Most frequently, the cleaning mat is situated into the transitional area, between workshop and operational area. Just during the transition from the magnetic cleaning mat, ferromagnetic impurities are caught on the mat and, therefore, staff shoes remain clean.

Magnetic mat consists of two parts – magnets and covering rubber mat.

MSP FAC is used to protect both the process equipment (ferrite core design) and to control and secure the final product (neodymium core design).

The high magnetic performance together with the perfect processing and cleaning system meet the needs of the most demanding customers in various industries where high requirements are placed on the protection of process equipment and the purity of the final product.

The magnetic separator is controlled by FESTO pneumatic elements. The SIEMENS control system included in the delivery is applicable in most industrial plants. The separated material is discharged through a central section where an adjustable spreading canopy directs the material flow evenly onto the magnetic plates. During the automatic cleaning process, the plates are moved to the side parts of the separator where they are demagnetized and the trapped dirt is automatically discharged into the side hoppers. Through the unique design of the magnetic cores, the MSP series achieves excellent magnetic properties across the entire material flow.

Areas of application in operation

Separation to protect production technologies

In the case of applications used to protect production equipment, the MSP FAC separator is equipped with a ferrite magnetic core with a deep effective magnetic field that is capable of capturing coarser ferromagnetic impurities and thus protecting downstream production equipment. This makes a significant contribution to saving maintenance and service costs.
Separation for product purity

When used in a position that ensures safety and final product quality, the fully automated MSP FAC separator is equipped with a neodymium magnetic core that achieves superior magnetic induction and breakaway force values. In positions where the highest quality of separation is required or where a higher incidence of very fine ferromagnetic impurities is expected, a plate separator with 7 magnetic circuits has been developed.

Size models

The MSP FAC product line is offered in standard sizes for piping systems with a diameter of 150/200/250/300. For other dimensions or smaller diameters, installation with adapters is possible.

Magnetic drum design

The magnetic drum consists of an outer, stainless steel, rotating casing with a sleeve and a magnetic core fitted with ferrite magnets or very strong neodymium NdFeB magnets. These magnets create the necessary magnetic field on the surface of the drum, thanks to which the metal particles are trapped and carried beyond the drum axis. Here, demagnetisation occurs and the metals fall off spontaneously, unlike non-metallic separated material which falls off before the axis of the magnetic drum.

Possibilities of using the magnetic drum

The magnetic drum is made of stainless steel and we are able to dimension it to your requirements. The use of a magnetic drum will significantly increase the quality of the processed material. It is also suitable for use where it is necessary to protect downstream equipment from damage by metal particles.

Vibrating conveyor (vibrating feeder) in front of magnetic separator

This conveyor spreads the accumulated material on the conveyor into a uniform layer over the entire width of the belt. The material is then easier and better separated, especially when using a non-magnetic metal separator, magnetic plate, magnetic drum or magnetic roller. The vibratory conveyor is suitable for dry bulk materials. It is not suitable for fine and sticky materials. The high trough of the conveyor prevents unwanted material from falling out of the conveyor belt.

Magnetic drum in MBZ cabinet construction

For significantly easier installation of the magnetic drum, we also supply the magnetic drum including the cabinet construction. The separation principle is exactly the same as for the magnetic drum. In this version, the magnetic drum is installed in the cabinet construction and the trouble of fixing the magnetic drum is eliminated.

Advantages of cabinet construction

The material to be separated is poured into the box structure through its upper opening. The cabinet structure is terminated by two openings through which the metals and the separated material fall out separately. The diameter, length of the drum and dimensions of the cabinet structure are adapted to your requirements.

The magnetic drum in a box construction is supplied including motor and gearbox and can be equipped with either ferrite magnets or significantly stronger neodymium NdFeB magnets.

This double-deck magnetic drum will find its application in those operations where an even higher quality of separation needs to be achieved by adding an additional magnetic drum. Another application is in minimising contamination of the captured metals by the separated material – where the highest possible purity of the separated metals needs to be achieved.

Magnetic drums of this separator can be equipped with ferrite and very strong neodymium NdFeB magnets. It is also possible to combine them, where one magnetic drum is equipped with ferrite magnets and the other with neodymium magnets. This magnetic broom is, in comparison with the model MM 1200 DM, made of a stainless steelso it has a higher resistance, it is more comfortable to de-magnetize and easier method of fixation onto a forklift truck. From a viewpoint of magnetic efficiency, both brooms are identical.

Airport area cleaning

Magnetic broom (magnetic sweeper) for extensive areas, the width 9000 mm

This magnetic broom consists of the three independent carts connected to a single unit. The main cart is characterized by the height-adjustable carriage shaft in the range of 280-480 mm from a road; two connected carts have a firm carriage shaft. Clear height of all carts is 120 mm. The broom is height-adjustable in the range 40-120 mm above a road, and it is equipped with plastics gliders protecting it against a contact with a road. The carts have height-adjustable moving wheels serving to facilitate connection and handling operations.

Main cart is equipped with telescopic arms; their sliding out length is ca 1200 mm. On the ends of the arms, there are balls serving to side carts connecting. All except the carriage shaft is adjustable without a need to use tooling.

The carts can be interconnected next to each other (maximum width is 9480 mm), or one behind another (in case of traveling or another manipulation, the width is 3680 mm).

Whole set weight is ca 790 kg. The carts are equipped with LED lamps and warning identification (stickers).

MAGNETIC BROOMS – MAGNETIC SWEEPERS WITH THE WIDTH OF 1000 MM

These brooms/sweepers find their application especially in cleaning of larger areas. Using of this kind of broom/sweeper means saving of the time spent on cleaning and prevention of dust swirl during sweeping. The broom/sweeper is equipped with two handrails; each of them may be pulled out separately. By pulling them into the upper part, the lower part of the magnetic broom/sweeper becomes de-magnetized so all of the metals collected are separated.

Industrial areas of MSVR separator utilization

Practically, MSVR may be used in all industrial areas where materials characterized by fine to very fine fractions with compromised loose parameters, are separated.

To a limited extent, MSVR rotational magnetic separator is useful also in slightly abrasive materials. However, in such case there must be considered the reduction of

magnetic induction (magnetic force) in tens %. For each magnetic force level, this reduction is different.

Why should these magnetic separators be used?

Due to very strong magnets, you protect your technologies:

This separation is aimed at ferromagnetic impurity removal from the material, in order to protect subsequent technological units (grinders, mills, extrusion heads, etc.) against their fatal damaging. From the output point of view, rotating component magnetic cores are equipped with strong NdFeB (neodymium) magnets assembled to a magnetic circuit capable of catching medium-size, small to fine metal magnetic impurities (the size from 1 mm) that could damage your technological device. In these magnetic assemblies, level I .is applied.
Product cleanliness separation due to the extra strong magnetic field assembly:

Product-cleanliness separation focuses on a perfect cleaning – own product separation from the ferromagnetic impurities purposed at achieving of as good as possible product cleanliness. In this case, we mostly recommend installing the magnetic separator as a final, ending position, before the point where the material leaves the plant. To achieve as much as possible magnetic separation efficiency, we recommend choosing one more place of the installation, somewhere during the course of the production. This is the most efficient technique. In case of this magnetic separation, we used the strongest possible magnetic circuit assembly, i.e. level II. ,where the finest metal magnetic impurities up to the size of 1,0 µm are caught.

Technical solution

Through the magnetic separator, the material is passing using the gravity principle that is the same as with e.g. magnetic separators with telescopic grates; metal magnetic impurities are caught on magnetized pipes arranged into a circular assembly. It is exactly this kind of rotation that provides the material is moved uniformly through the pipeline, preventing thus magnetic separator clogging given by worsened loose parameters of the separated material. In some cases this rotation is even a positive factor in relation to other technological devices and material processing (the material is aerated – ruffled).

In various material types it is necessary to choose different magnetic component rotational speeds, so we standardly offer our rotational magnetic separators either with one or with two adjustable speeds. As an option, the device may be supplied also with a fluently regulated speed.

By the reason of its cleaning, it is necessary to count with a short material flow interruption with this magnetic separator type. The flow interruption varies according to a selected rotational separator type (STANDARD, ECO, STANDARD – UP, AUT). In case the material flow interruption is not possible from a technological reason, we recommend installation of a bypass where simplest magnetic separator may be installed to the other branch, to provide a continuous, uninterrupted separation.

MSVR magnetic separator structural solution

From the structural point of view, this magnetic separator consists of the magnetic separator body and of so called circular assembly of magnetic cores, located in stainless steel pipes. Together they form a magnetic component (magnetic core magnets temporarily the stainless steel pipes). This magnetic component rotates around its axis, as a whole. Magnetic separator is installed in the vertical position at best, within the poured material free fall. Circularly arranged covering pipes are – by the reason of possible current wear and tear – replaceable. Wear and tear may also take place in cases when the separator is installed into slightly abrasive materials (prior to its using in this abrasive environment, the manufacturer must be consulted).

Magnetic cores form a strong magnetic field in which metal magnetic impurities are attracted to the pipe surface where they remained firmly attached. Magnetic function of these magnetic separators is based on

the strong magnetic induction and tear-off force values on a the own covering pipe surface. Therefore, any impurity must be taken to a close contact with the magnetic pipe, or to its immediate proximity.

This magnetic separator is equipped with driving units made by reputed companies NORD or SEW. Gear ratios are designed depending on a type of material from which the separation will take place. Magnetic separator control is provided either using a separate distributor meeting all demands and requirements of European norms, or it is ended with a terminal box located on the motor (it always depends on a specific customer requirement – whether they require a complete solution, or if they want to install the entire device and connect it to their technological system).
